Hi! I’m Anya from Glasgow, Scotland and I’m so excited to be writing for Clunk! Gigs are my happy place and my desert-island band is James. I’m also a trained pianist and play a little bit of drums, and I have two golden retrievers that I love to bits.
Courting announce deluxe edition of 2025 album ‘Lust For Life’ with new single ‘the twins (1969)’
Liverpool rock band Courting have released the launch of their coming-soon deluxe of their album ‘Lust For Life,’ with ‘the twins (1969),‘ leaving listeners with bated breath for the rest of the album to drop. Frontman Sean Murphy-O’Neill stated “’The Twins‘ is about only missing something once you’ve lost it. Filling boots, and leftovers.”
This track is a seamless sequel to ‘Lust for Life,’ Courting’s previous album that gained them countless new fans and sent them halfway across the globe on tours. It’s gritty, fast, repetitive and the music video fits it like a glove. The ending feels like the interval during a thriller; the deluxe isn’t a want, it’s a need.
I find myself reminded of The Voidz‘ ‘Pointlessness,’ not because of similarities in musical or rhythmic style, but because both these tracks are ones I’d add to a playlist made to soundtrack internal chaos. ‘the twins (1969)’ is exactly what the feeling of “if-only” would sound like; hindsight and aftermath can be accidentally, frustratingly heartbreaking.
