Jack Wolter’s solo project Cubzoa releases new single ‘Buckle Up‘ from his debut album ‘Unfold The Sky‘ releasing October 24th

His soft, reflective and genre-pushing sound is eccentric and subtly mysterious, driven by thumping electronic musical elements and soaring, almost angelic, vocals guiding us through a spellbinding story. Underpinned by an ominous paranoia and urgency, the single comes accompanied with a hypnotic video of a live session Jack made in Portugal featuring visuals from his live shows along with added lyrics. The video is one of not many that adds layers of depth to this introverted piece of electronic bedroom pop and the hazy woods it takes us through.

โ€˜Buckle Upโ€™ becomes more intriguing with every listen and slowly hooks its listener with a slow intro, heartbeat-like rhythm, and almost transpicuous vocals. On his latest, Cubzoa says: โ€œI wrote this song as a response to the challenging times artists were facing worldwide during the pandemic. It reflects the atmosphere of uncertainty and concern felt at that time.โ€ When he received the first mix of the song from Graham Walsh, he knew that Walsh would be the right person to mix the entire album, โ€œhe coloured it in beautifullyโ€.

His artist pseudonym derives its name from a venomous box jellyfish, a โ€œlittle beast of the seaโ€, aptly chosen for his illuminating sound. โ€˜Unfold In The Skyโ€™ will be providing more of this much-needed, spacious bedroom sound, allowing us to unclench and breathe as the music washes over us. The album provided a focus during Jackโ€™s Covid-era lockdown at the family home in Cornwall. Finishing the album in the salty embrace of Brighton, coming back to himself and the sea; this water runs deep in the albumโ€™s DNA. It is washed with references to the sea drift and aquatic lyrics throughout, and despite a stutter at its very beginning, the album has landed at a happy place for Jack, and its future addicts.ย
