Dead Rat Society’s latest outing is the band’s most direct foray into outright punk rock with ‘Fuck Your North Face Jacket’.

The incendiary London-based dance punk outfit, Dead Rat Society, are back with their latest single ‘Fuck Your North Face Jacket’ and is the band’s most direct foray into outright punk rock.

Guitars are steeped in fuzz and played ferociously throughout, with tonal similarities to the likes of Ceremony, Bass Drum Of Death and Hot Snakes. The eagle eyed among you will note that all of these bands mentioned feature on GTA V’s Vinewood Boulevard Radio and ‘Fuck Your North Face Jacket‘ could slot into this station with ease, as Dead Rat Society punch and kick their way through this song and navigate an increasingly mad world. Of course, Dead Rat Society retain some of the mad-hatter energy from their previous tracks with some tinkly, mischievous keys that kick this track off.

The main riff will get heads banging, as will the rallying cries, ‘Fuck your North Face jacket and everything you stand adjacent to but don’t support.’ It’s a not-so-subtle wink to everything wrong with being placid in the face of international corruption and injustices. Masculine identity is also addressed through the line ‘…the tempting fragility of man’. It plays with the idea that you can put on a mass-produced jacket and slip into a way of thinking where you believe role of men is somehow being diminished in today’s society, when nothing could be further from the truth. It’s a line that provokes contemplation amidst the punky mayhem.
