CLUNK Recommends | La Sécurité – Deny

La Sécurité blends dance-punk with disco to create their own groovy sound on new single ‘Deny’

Montreal art punks La Sécurité return with their disco anthem ‘Deny’, the final single from their forthcoming second album ‘Bingo!’, due 12th June.

Following their recent singles ‘Bingo’ and ‘Snack City’, ‘Deny’ raises the bar in catchiness, blending four-to-the-floor cadences with nifty polyrhythmic bass lines. It’s an instant earworm, with hints of Gossip and Le Tigre dance-punk influence.

Vocalist Éliane Viens-Synnott delivers stern, blunt lines that jab and counter with the groovy lead guitar melodies. It’s laid back, nonchalant, but perfectly balanced between the thin line of composed and casual.

On the track, La Sécurité states – “Initially written in French and translated to English, the song deals with dysfunctional relationships and getting rid of burdens in your life. Standing up for yourself. This doesn’t work for me; I’m out. The bass hook was stolen from Standard Emmanuel, Félix’s solo project.

In addition to the single drop, La Sécurité have added more UK & EU headline shows and festival appearances to their busy Spring and Summer touring schedule.
