Ocean Alley’s latest track ‘Love Balloon’ encapsulates the summer with Nile Rodgers-inspired riff
The Australian surf-rock six-piece, Ocean Alley, are reaching a milestone this September with the release of their fifth studio album, ‘Love Balloon’. They set off on this new musical journey last year with the release of ‘Tangerine’, a feel-good tune which laid down the main foundation for their upcoming album where colour, charisma and chill are at the forefront.
The sextet released the title track, ‘Love Balloon’, on June 3rd – a perfect follow-up from the release of ‘Tangerine’ and ‘Left of The Dealer’ as Ocean Alley continue with the uplifting and jangly sound they are loved for. ‘Love Balloon’ is an infectious tune, invoking images of hot days, summer love and sea air. With a shimmering guitar riff inspired by Nile Rodgers and a funk infused groove, this track would be at home booming out of a speaker at the beach with waves crashing in the background, or at a festival with a luke-warm pint of cider in hand. This summery indie-rock tune echoes bands like Viola Beach and Blossoms.
The cheerful, easygoing sonics of the song perfectly match the light-hearted lyrical content, which is about the euphoria you feel when you fall in love– ‘we could touch the ceiling from our love balloon’.
During the making of the upcoming album, Ocean Valley worked with the legendary producer, Nick DiDia, who is known for his collaboration with majorly influential artists like Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Pearl Jam and more. This musical partnership, and the title track’s playful and contagious energy, is a more than promising sign as we approach the release of their fifth album, ‘Love Balloon’.
Ocean Alley‘s latest album ‘Love Balloon‘ will be released on September 19th.
