Noise-rock group DITZ announce their second album ‘Never Exhale’ and drop new single ‘Space/Smile’
Following 2022’s debut album ‘The Great Regression,’ DITZ have announced their second album, ‘Never Exhale,’ out on 24th January via Republic of Music/Domino Publishing.
DITZ are, above all else, a live band. Their recent support slots with Bristol punk legends IDLES prove they are more than worthy of your support when they embark on their huge EU/UK tour next year (dates below).
Because of this tour with IDLES, the making of the album was chaotic, with the band writing the tracks using borrowed rehearsal spaces from bands they’d been playing with the night before. With time to trial these new tracks at gigs, DITZ eventually made it to Holy Mountain Studios, London, where they made the most of Seth Manchester (Model/Actriz, Lingua Ignota) for production/engineering duties.
At only 1 minute and 48 seconds, new single ‘Space/Smile’ is a twitchy and restless shot of chaos, teasing us just enough to make us crave the full project. As the vocals become progressively more crazed, the instrumental steadily builds in tension, an incoming threat, stampeding closer and closer. It’s an odd choice for a lead single and you’re left wanting more, but isn’t that exactly the point?
