German-Irish-Canadian singer-songwriter Alice Merton kicks off 2024 with her brand new single, ‘run away girl‘
Released via her own record label, Paper Plane Records International, the track had its live premiere at the ZDF New Year’s Eve party at Berlin’s famous Brandenburg Gate.
The anthemic single has a completely euphoric melody. With the lyrics looking at themes of self-discovery and feeling lost, the track captures this feeling but subverts into an upbeat and electrifying anthem.
Merton’s dark-pop sound is at the forefront of ‘run away girl‘; the synth-pop sound running underneath the single fleshes out the 80’s tinge while Merton’s energetic vocals pair up nicely with the backing melody.
Joining the likes of Sigrid, Baby Queen and Holly Humberstone, Merton‘s unique spin ensures that her pop sound is not growing old any time soon.
