I’m Evan, a 19 year old concert photographer based and raised in Glasgow. Being from Glasgow, I’ve always been around music from a young age, either going to concerts with my parents as young as 5 or playing a variety of instruments throughout my childhood. Photography has also been a passion for many years and to combine both together and music has been nothing but great.

Michael Marcagi brings his new album and EU/UK Tour to Glasgow’s QMU, with support from Evan Honer

Last week, Michael Marcagi returned for his first headline Glasgow show, having previously playing in the OVO Hydro supporting The Lumineers last year. Marcagi’s new album ‘Under The Streetlights’ is out now via Warner Records.

I was pleasantly surprised a week prior to the show when I realised Evan Honer was supporting Michael on this tour. I first heard about Evan through his song ‘Jersey Giant’ and I knew I had to get down early to see him. A 40 minute set from Evan was just not long enough it seemed, and even though he took to stage only 30 minutes after doors, the crowd was already full. With nothing but 2 guitars, Evan Honer really brought the crowd to life; I think it was the most I’ve ever seen a crowd sing along and enjoy a support act.

Michael took to the stage shortly after Evan’s set, not keeping the crowd waiting to long. After openers ‘The Other Side’ and ‘Keep Me Honest’, it was clear that the packed QMU was in for a great night. Michael was fully immersed with the Glasgow crowd, even sharing his thoughts about the city and visiting Edinburgh also. He then brought Honer back out to sing ‘Humbling‘ together; it felt really special to see both these amazingly talented artists play together.

‘Scared to Start’ was the star of the show with the whole crowd cheering before Marcagi had even started singing. What stood out was how genuine and appreciative Michael was, noting how crazy it is that he doesn’t get similar reactions back in his hometown, but can fill out shows and have people sing along at the other side of the world. He finished with ‘Rocksteady,’ closing out a great night of music.
