I’m Evan, a 19 year old concert photographer based and raised in Glasgow. Being from Glasgow, I’ve always been around music from a young age, either going to concerts with my parents as young as 5 or playing a variety of instruments throughout my childhood. Photography has also been a passion for many years and to combine both together and music has been nothing but great.
Electronic titans The Prodigy kick off their UK/Ireland Tour at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro with an overwhelming sonic and visual attack
The Prodigy kicked off their UK/IRE Tour in Glasgow, with support from Carl Cox. Carl Cox started the night with a chaotic 2 hour set, doing what he does best: keeping the crowd alive, until The Prodigy took to the stage.
The Prodigy took to stage shortly after 9pm: no buildup, no messing around, just straight into it. From the pit, this was one of the loudest gigs I’ve experienced – one that I felt in every part of my body. Maxim was lively as ever and so was the Glasgow crowd. It was clear Maxim was loving the crowd as he referred to them as “The Real Party People”.
The set was made up of familiar favourites including, ‘Voodoo People,’ ‘Omen’ and ‘Firestarter,’ in which Maxim stayed silent throughout, letting the original vocals of Keith Flint ring through the arena.
The production of this set was something else. The sheer amount of lasers flying throughout the OVO Hydro was immense and I’d not seen anything like it to this scale before. The Prodigy finished their set with the classic ‘Smack My Bitch Up,’ Before returning with a 5 song encore, including ‘Breathe’ and ‘Out of Space’.
