cumgirl8 have just released a red hot new single ‘quite like love’, which should not go unheard. Think Grimes meets Cocteau Twins. Their music and performative aesthetic is wholly raw art; they’re offering something different and act as the embodiment of their freed characters. This has never been clearer than in this addictive techno-rock single, ‘quite like love’.
‘quite like love’ has melancholic, yearning elements, with the energy of being inside a club. A cocktail of well-rounded instrumentals and a hauntingly stunning voice coaxes you while the profound lyrics show what love means to cumgirl8.
The contrast between an ethereal voice and bittersweet lyrics is perhaps one of the best ways to get ahead of the game recently and it really reaffirms what this band is capable of. Hints of new-wave are strong and bouncing drums add something new and rageful to the band, fitting well with their aim of sexual freedom and powerful femininity.
It feels like they are coming to life through my speakers and tempting me into their world of eroticism as music. Produced by Avishag Rodrigues, this darker, hauntingly beautiful side of cumgirl8 heightens your senses, bewitching you into their world once again.
