Oasis are reuniting for a string of tours across the UK and possibly the US but who’s going to be supporting them?
Rejoice, rock n roll is saved as one of the largest bands from the 90’s returns for a special set of cash grabs shows. The two arguing brothers have put aside their differences and will be reuniting Oasis for a string of stadium shows across the UK and possibly the USA. The question now though is who will this 90’s powerhouse bring with them on tour? Well, there are many contenders one of which is a near guarantee, Villanelle, fronted by Liam’s son Gene. However, there will be more than one support and today we’re going to put in motion the rumour mill.
Arctic Monkeys

The Arctic Monkeys are a stadium ready band in their own right and are arguably as popular as Oasis themselves. In fact, a lot of music fans look to Arctic Monkeys as the last true rock band after Oasis, which of course is complete twaddle. However, Noel and Liam have both made negative comments about the band in the past, but have recently clarified they like their music, just not perhaps Alex Turner himself. Arctic Monkeys are possibly the least unlikeliest support due to just coming off tour and with no new music on the horizon, but it doesn’t mean they’re a right off.
Black Honey

The rock outfit Black Honey has had a brilliant and exciting career since their self-titled debut and has seen them actually support Liam Gallagher on a recent tour. They’re a constant delight live and have toured extensively across the UK and played countless festivals (as well as released three ripping albums). They’re more than ready to take the stadium stage and open for Oasis, in fact, they’re arguably one of the most deserving too as they work incredibly hard.
IDLES

The post-punk band IDLES needs no introduction as they’re the one of, if not the most popular bands to emerge in the last decade. They’ve taken the country and music industry but storm and built a rabid, yet wholesome fanbase. They’re another band that have also supported Liam Gallagher recently and as such are more likely to be confirmed. However, the band has just come off an absolutely massive world tour following their recent album ‘TANGK’. Although, IDLES are not ones to shy away from playing live but would the Oasis crowd appreciate the band?
Blossoms

Blossoms are arguably one of the most likely bands to be announced, in fact, the Daily Mail recently (sort of) confirmed them. Although, how reliable the Daily Mail is, is well, disputed to say the least. The band from Manchester share a home city, one that the Gallagher brothers are extremely proud of. Which helps Blossoms massively as they’re the cities new poster boys for modern rock.
Kasabian

Kasabian are another band that a lot of Oasis fans believe carry the torch for rock n roll post Oasis and in this case, they are still wrong. However, they are certainly the band that are the most similar in sound and sensibility. The band have had a few changes recent years with frontman Tom Meighan being kicked out after being convicted of assaulting his then fiance, so guitarist Sergio has taken lead. It was a bold move by the band and one that could of ended in it breaking up completely but it paid off as the band are bigger and better than ever.
Tom Meighan

Which leads us to Tom Meighan… as mentioned he was convicted of assaulting his wife in 2020 but he hasn’t let that stop him from continuing a career in music. He began his solo project and released the debut album ‘The Reckoning’ as well as securing a several tours and a few festival appearances. Although, he has struggled to find his way onto mainstream success due to his past and so called ‘cancellation’. He did however, tour with Noel Gallagher recently and is good friends with the Gallagher brother. So, who knows, perhaps he may be brought along as a support act but if he is it will cause some controversy.
