On ‘In The Stars’ The Rolling Stones hit the nail on the head, showing they’re still relevant, not yet out of touch, and are going with the tide
There is nothing as striking as a legendary rock’n’roll band showing they’ve still got it, showing they’ve never given up, and have always moved with the tide instead of against it. The second single to be released from the upcoming album is a stadium-ready rock release that instantly sounds like we’ve heard it many times before, it’s an instant anthem, an ageless new release. ‘In The Stars’ sounds like the soundtrack of the school dances of our grandparents, our parents, ourselves, and our children. As always, The Rolling Stones have mastered the ability to span generations. Truly making them one of the most impressive and brilliant rock bands to have ever existed.
The Rolling Stones show off they’ve still got their suave, their charm, and their knack for releasing kicking and punching rock tracks. This one is soaring, powerful, colourful, and ridiculously cool. It falls straight in line with the previous single they released off the upcoming album, ‘Rough And Twisted’, although that one is a little less PG. ‘In The Stars’ is an instant hit, and it took me less than twenty seconds to jump up from my chair because I simply had to move along to it.
The veteran rockers are making their highly anticipated return through a new studio album. ‘Foreign Tongues’ is arriving on the 10th of July and if it’s anything like ‘Into The Stars’, we know we can expect a soaring and powerful, harmonious, riffing rock release. On their upcoming album, Jagger, Richards and Wood worked alongside core collaborators including Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan, there are special appearances, and additional contributions from an impressive line-up of guest artists such as Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Reflecting on the recording process, Mick Jagger said:“I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”
Keith Richards added:“The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”
Ronnie Wood commented:“The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it.”
The Rolling Stones are one of the many greats knowing how to showcase the importance of collaborations, as the result is a powerful, rocking manifesto.
