Will Paquin has announced he shall be self-releasing his debut album โ€˜Hahahaโ€™ on September 12th. To celebrate the albumโ€™s announcement, the L.A-based guitarist and singer has released โ€˜I Work So Hardโ€™, a jump-up bedroom chug interspersed with whimsical vocals. Itโ€™s a track that Paquin began writing in middle school and takes an intimate, occasionally manic, look at false productivity. Speeding up and slowing down in unexpected places, โ€˜I Work So Hardโ€™ evokes the best of deranged garage rock from the 2010โ€™s, such as Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees.

Written largely on tour whilst navigating a break-up, โ€˜Hahahaโ€™ is set to capture the tension between the euphoria and sadness of live performance. Paquin says, โ€œItโ€™s almost like a sarcastic โ€˜hahaha,โ€™ with tears in my eyes.โ€

As well as taking inspiration from the likes of Ty Segall, the album will also draw from Paquinโ€™s more experimental influences, such a Deerhoof, Can and The Flaming Lips. The title track of the album, which is also out now, hints at more experimental flavours, where Paquinโ€™s vocals become increasingly eccentric over stuttering guitar.

Paquin produced โ€˜Hahahaโ€™ with long-time collaborator William Levin with mixing and mastering from Nathan Boddy (James Blake) and Mike Bozzi (Kendrick Lemar).

An autumn tour will begin in the US in September and the European leg of the tour will kick-off in November.

Will Paquinโ€™s debut album โ€˜Hahahaโ€™ will be released September 12th.
