Dutch psych outfit Yin Yin groove their way through tracks old and new at the Bristol Beacon’s Lantern Room
We first caught wind of sonic landscape of Yin Yin with their recent KEXP Session and it wasn’t long before we considered ourselves big fans. From the opening synth sounds of ‘In Search Of Yang’ I was sucked into their expansive, Asian-fused, psychedelic sound. Not only was it experimental, bold, it was outwardly groovy and importantly VERY fun. It didn’t stop there though as the Cowboy/Western guitar tones of ‘Lecker Song’ washed over me, showing me just how diverse their sound can be.
It’s no surprise that adventure up from Cornwall to bustling streets of Bristol was essential when we caught wind of Yin Yin heading to the south west. Their live show did not disappoint, bringing the same energy that I saw on screen (and more) from 5 months ago. Yin Yin are truly one of the greatest live bands in existence today bringing forward a range of sounds and talent that many bands dream of.
We cannot wait to have them grace our shores again in the near future.
