On a big checklist of perfect rave locations, disused railway station comes pretty close to knocking empty warehouse off the top spot. So this year’s edition of The Warehouse Project is set to be a winner. Taking place in the centre of Manchester in a cavernous old train station dubbed the ‘Depot’, this twelve-week run of events will see some serious electronic heavyweights brought to the city, and kicking off these pulse-thundering proceedings? None other than Cornish native Aphex Twin.

The Warehouse Project’s opening night will be curated by the Warp Records goliath, his selections including techno giant Nina Kraviz and Hyperdub’s own Lee Gamble. The show will follow on from Aphex Twin’s appearance at Red Bull Music Festival in London this September. One post-summer showdown courtesy of Aphex Twin coming right up.
