Manchester’s Barely Strangers bring forward a retrospective sound with a modern twist in latest single ‘Mess Around’

Manchester is a city that has a rich and full history when it come to music. Bands such as Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Fall, and a whole heap more claim it as home. So, it’s no surprise that new bands forming out of the great city are taking influence from the greats that came before them. Through it’s greats the city has harnessed a sound that is instantly recognisable as their own. Something that continues to this very day with new and emerging artists from the city.

One said emerging Manchester artist that is continuing to fly the flag is Barely Strangers, a duo that fuses that 90’s Manchester brit-pop sound with a modern indie twist. Their latest single ‘Mess Around’ is a sonically reconsable track, instantly becoming an earworm. The vocals take lead whilst the guitars sit subtly in the backdrop, driving the track forward. It’s an emotional journey that takes the listener through the trials and tribulations of love and a breakup and that longing feeling for an ex partner.

Barely Strangers are just starting out their musical journey and they’ve set the bar very high with this release, it will be exciting to watch them grow.
