Prolific folk singer/songwriter Billie Marten has announced her new album ‘Dog Eared‘, releasing 18th July 2025, and an upcoming UK tour
Recording began in 2024 for ‘Dog Eared‘ in New York with producer Phil Weinrobe (Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek) at his Sugar Mountain studio. The initial ideas behind Dog Eared’s tracks were formed whilst Marten was on tour for her fourth album, ‘Drop Cherries,‘ where she sent voice-notes and demos across the Atlantic.
In anticipation of ‘Dog Eared’s arrival, the album’s opener, ‘Feeling‘, has also been released. ‘Feeling‘ is a shimmering trip into Marten’s first memories with a gentle guitar that bubbles and twangs.
“I’ve discovered that I have a really particular long-term memory. I have specific sensory recollections from when I was two onwards”, said Marten. “Another strong memory is the feeling of big, warm hands when you’re a child and how comforting and safe that feels.”
Marten has several shows upcoming in June on outdoor stages with Elbow in Cardiff, Coventry and Gloucestershire. She will then play a string of shows in November, including a headline show at SWX in Bristol on 11th November.
‘Dog Eared’ is out on 18th July via Fiction Records.
