Drummer first and foremost, but will happily give an opinion on anything rock, indie and punk related.
2000s indie heroes Bloc Party announce 20th Anniversary deluxe edition of ‘Silent Alarm’ alongside world tour
Bloc Party have announced a special series of releases celebrating the 20th anniversary of their landmark debut album ‘Silent Alarm.’ First released in 2005 to widespread acclaim and multi-platinum success, ‘Silent Alarm‘ earned a Mercury Prize nomination and has since been hailed as one of the great noughties indie rock records by fans and critics alike.
On 26 September 2025, Silent Alarm will be reissued in multiple formats:
- 20th Anniversary Deluxe Box Set (4 LPs): original album, 12 B-sides & rarities, the bandโs 2004 BBC Radio 1 John Peel Session, and seven previously unreleased demos.
- 2xLP, 2xCD, and an Amazon Music Exclusive 1xLP Reissue.
All formats are available for pre-order now.
As well as this, Bloc Party will embark on a major headline tour across North America, the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, along with appearances at major festivals.
All in all, Bloc Party are hosting their victory lap in memory of a terrific album, and for fans of the band, I’m sure this is a very welcome surprise. For a personal anecdote, my mother personally recalls my first musical experience, being driven home from the hospital after being born in the summer of 2005, was listening to ‘Helicopter’ by Bloc Party, just one of the many brilliant tracks off of this record.
