Indie folk legends Bright Eyes announce new album ‘Five Dice, All Threes’ and drop new single ‘Bells And Whistles’
Following on from their 2020 comeback album ‘Down In The Weeds, Where The World Once Was,’ Bright Eyes today announce their new album. ‘Five Dice, All Threes’ is out on 20th September via Dead Oceans.
10 albums and many years of touring deep, Bright Eyes have not fizzled out since their 2022 release, with the new project promising to be “a visceral thrill like nothing they have attempted before.” The album will also feature guest performances from some huge names: Cat Power, Matt Berninger (The National) and Alex Orange Drink (The So So Glos).
Alongside the announcement is lead single ‘Bells And Whistles,’ which, we’re pleased to say, is the best Bright Eyes have sounded in years. ‘Bells And Whistles’ is an instantly catchy and well crafted tune that gives fans exactly what they want from a Bright Eyes song. Frontman Oberst’s voice sounds fantastic and raw as ever, delivering each line with a devastating weight and rasp.
The instrumental is classic Bright Eyes with jangly guitars and folksy drums joined by incredibly sweet piano lines and whistles. Despite this sweetness, the track is just raw enough to satisfy older Bright Eyes fans and just catchy enough to satisfy as a lead single. If the rest of the album sounds this good, this could be one of the year’s best releases.
