Did a sports journalism degree, write about music instead. Used to sing, now you can find me either at a gig or in the pub in the centre of the universe – Leeds.
Hot off the press from her debut headline show, Manchester soul-pop talent, Anna Lynch, keeps the ball rolling with her second official release – ‘My Body’.
Having honed her craft via shows with The Untold Orchestra and Candlelight Concerts, Lynch is now gaining traction as a soloist with praise for her debut single and debut performances coming from BBC Introducing and Atwood Magazine, amongst others.
Lynch’s second single is a jazz inspired toe-tapper celebrating her ability and influences. Influenced by some of Britain’s finest soul voices from icons like Amy Winehouse to modern day powerhouses such as Olivia Dean – on ‘My Body’ Anna Lynch wears her influences on her sleeve but also showcases why her name could one day be up there with her idols.
Instrumentally, the pianos are dreamy, the steady drum beat will have you tapping along to your own hums and those jazz influences all come together via some gorgeous brass work. Lynch’s voice is reminiscent of her heroes aforementioned though that should not cloud just how wonderful her vocals are on this track. ‘My Body’ is a genuinely superb blend of pop and jazz and soul, masterful instrumentation and the voice of, not a newcomer, but what sounds like a potential superstar.
