Drummer first and foremost, but will happily give an opinion on anything rock, indie and punk related.
Archie Sagers, the man behind Brighton’s label Crafted Room Recordings, unveils ‘Silver Lake,’ an experimental and heartfelt shoegaze track
‘Silver Lake’ blends guitar jangles amongst a solid jazzy backbeat, perhaps Brighton’s answer to Vansire, from what I can gather. The track was written about Archie moving into a new home with his partner. According to Archie himself, he says:
“Itโs based on the simple idea of creating a place that belongs to both of you – whether thatโs a physical space like an apartment or the space you have for eachother, that feeling of comfort when you think of them. Itโs about how a person can make you feel as if there is no past or future without them, everything you need is right here.“
Whilst Archie runs his non-profit label Crafted Room, featuring artists such as ELLiS D, Ideal Living, Soft Top, Maximilian, Wine Pride, Hualun and many more, he also blesses our ears with his bedroom pop, soft indie shoegaze wonder to make you feel nostalgic as ever during these long summer days, quite the accomplishment given his other commitments!
The track has been released at the perfect time, as a gentle accompaniment to a sunset or a sunny day with no plans. I particularly love Archie’s vocal delivery, subdued yet very expressive, which I think is a great touch and adds a lot to the song.
Regardless, get familiar with Archie’s new single, show him some love. And if this is somehow not your thing, perhaps check out Crafted Room Recordings’ roster.
