Baxter Dury displays fierce wit in latest hypnotic single ‘Return Of The Sharp Heads‘ ahead of new album ‘Allbarone‘ releasing September 12th

Baxter Dury’s latest offering ‘Return Of The Sharp Heads’ proves that, despite his two decade long career, he hasn’t missed a step.

Dury pairs the grooves of a scintillating instrumental with the vocals of rising artist JGrrey to create an earworm of a track. It’s topped off with Dury’s own verses, using his distinct vocals in a spoken-word style, adding his own element of post-punk to bring the song together. It’s everything you’ve come to expect from Dury in the best way possible.

The blend of the hypnotic bassline, along with the influences of dance and electric music, craft an almost cinematic experience.

The upbeat vibe of the song is in stark contrast to its biting and satirical lyrics. Dury’s signature wit shines through the whole song; particular highlights include his critiques of “charity shop haircuts” and “olympic ozempic hips”. The character Dury embodie through the lyrics has a very particular demographic of people in his crosshairs, and you can’t help but enjoy listening as he cuts them down with his razor tongue.
