Beau Bennett’s ‘Apricity‘ is an inspiring indie-pop anthem ahead of her debut EP ‘Pallette‘

Forming in the studios and lecture halls of Falmouth University, Beau Bennett and her accompanying band are steadily climbing to public acclaim with Beau‘s single ‘Apricity‘, ahead of her upcoming EP ‘Pallette’ out this Friday 23rd of May. 

This single beckons listeners in, wrapping them in feelings of nostalgia, regret, but also an ever inspiring feeling of hope that is musically supported with intricate and uplifting piano parts. An electric guitar expertly rides overtop the mix, taunting and satisfying us with expressive drums and tasteful backing vocals.

‘Apricity‘ is the warmth of sun on your face on a cold day. In this single we follow a protagonist awaiting for this very feeling, but they are currently ‘ripping at the seams, just waiting for some apricity’ denoting the desperation to feel better. The protagonist needs to feel warmth in a period of darkness, to imbue a sense of hope, to convey the feeling of wanting “to be set free” from despondency and the seasonal sadness one can feel in winter. Beau Bennett uses ‘Apricity‘ to explain how you can feel in the wake of a breakup or any grief for that matter, whether death or loss of friendship. 

At 2:47 we reach the song’s volta. The tensions slowly starts to release, just like the feeling of the warm sun settling on your face. The song hits on all common pop/indie/rock motifs here, solidifying its anthemic nature. You can really imagine yourself singing along to this live and experiencing the same feelings Beau Bennett so beautifully sings about.
