Brighton’s Cubzoa emerges with ‘I Dreamed a Beach’, the intimate lead single from his upcoming debut album
Packed full of shimmering vocals and ethereal instrumentation, Jack Wolter’s latest project as Cubzoa is a folk-laden success. The CMAT guitarist and Penelope Isles vocalist and guitarist shines in his latest offering to set his course for a massive debut record.
Originally envisaged with minimal instrumentation, ‘I Dreamed a Beach’ manipulates strings, keys and saxophones to create a rich and dreamy plane of lucid exploration. A lone acoustic guitar accompanies the vocals for much of the song, allowing the track a deeply personal quality.
Wolter’s vocals are gorgeous throughout, intimate in their performance whilst filling aural space effectively to create a complex wave of sound. The recording crackles throughout to allow a timeless nature to the single, whilst harmonies are razor sharp in their execution.
Cubzoa’s ‘I Dreamed a Beach’ is a captivating tour of the musician’s imagination, filled to the brim with interesting instrumentation. The track is sensitive in its delivery and propels Jack Wolter towards success with his debut record.
Cubzoa’s debut album is set to be released on Bella Union Recordings in the second half of 2025.
