Picture Parlour release West Coast inspired track ‘Cielo Drive’ ahead of UK independent venue tour
Dipped in 70s’ rock-n-roll glamour, Picture Parlour return with a loaded anthem that was made for a California jukebox, jammed into the corner of a local dive bar. The sharp, edgy cut that is ‘Cielo Drive’ showcases Picture Parlour’s fearless and confident attitude, with punchy riffs infused with West Coast glamour theatrics.
‘Cielo Drive’ was born out of a trip to the California coast where their Uber driver pointed out the infamous street, Cielo Drive – the haunting yet historic scene where the Manson murders took place. Although Californian suburbia can look so peaceful to the naked eye, Picture Parlour taps into the aesthetics heard across the Sunset Strip in its 70s rock age. Standing tall as one of their boldest statements in sound yet, the London-based duo use their lyrics to reflect on the dark corners of Hollywood.
Its release is coupled with a special tour this summer, partnering with Music Venue Trust across the country. Frontwoman Katherine Parlour comments on the bands string of performances at independent venues sharing: “These treasured venues are vanishing rapidly. Independent spaces across the UK are falling victim to mass redevelopment, forced to shut down under impossible financial and security demands. We’re talking about the heart of our music scene here. We owe everything to independent venues, as they provide us creatives with opportunities that we otherwise wouldn’t have.”
