Romare returns with new single ‘Computer Love’, a hazy look into the dystopian future and our concerning love for technology.
Four years after his hit record ‘Fantasy’, Romare, the acclaimed producer, DJ and musician, has returned with ‘Computer Love’, the first single from his forthcoming album ‘Oblivion’, due September 26th.
Bringing forth a new evolution to his work, ‘Computer Love’ blends laid-back trip-hop patterns with woozy, sun-hazed synths. The single takes some of the best elements from Romare’s previous work, from the sample-heavy moments of ‘Projections’ (this time incorporating samples from old computer documentaries) to the dystopian darkness that tracks like ‘Dungeon’ brought to ‘Fantasy’. However, while it harnesses some of his best elements, ‘Computer Love’ feels like something new, ushering in a fresh obscurity to the distorted future.
On the single, Romare states: “The first single ‘Computer Love’ from the forthcoming album ‘Oblivion’ melancholically explores the future themes of love behind a screen. In a dystopian world of the future, our love for computers and the ability of our computers to find love eventually make the warm embrace of the past a distant memory.”
Romare will return to the stage later this year, performing at London’s Jazz Cafe on June 12th.
