Drummer first and foremost, but will happily give an opinion on anything rock, indie and punk related.
SPRINTS return with ‘Descartes‘ — the first taste of their upcoming second album, ‘All That Is Over’, out September 26th via City Slang and Sub Pop
This single is classic modern punk, offering an unapologetic social commentary over an explosive wall of sound. A unholy mix of aggression, attitude and confidence seeps out of this tune, making it a worthwhile listen for any punk enjoyer. You may liken the sound to any of the new-wave punk acts of today, I think the Lambrini Girls really stuck out to me when thinking of other artists that would have crossover fans with SPRINTS.
The tune was written mid-tour by frontwoman Karla Chubb after reading Rachel Cusk’s ‘Outline‘, the track channels the need for artists to create as a means of survival, rather than mere expression. The first line of the song, ‘Vanity is the curse of our culture’ is taken directly from the book, and from there the song transformed into a larger representation of the journey SPRINTS have been on, and are continuing, with their new record.
SPRINTS have also announced EU & UK dates after a standout festival appearance at Glastonbury. Whilst also heading out on the road with Bloc Party and Fontaines D.C.
