Brighton band The Roebucks’ latest track ‘Mona‘ is a twinkly singalong to celebrate the arrival of the indie spring
Equipped with their signature blend of bluesy indie-rock and Americana, Brighton natives The Roebucks return with more new music in the shape of โMonaโ.
The genre-bending south-coast quartet have mastered their attempted cocktail of sound. Verses equipped with grit, emotion and longing intertwine beautifully into the silky smooth choruses, with the two voices making for an effervescent yet elegant hook throughout.
Simple in a sense, โMonaโ comes with a twangy indie spring at the beginning before finding its final form in a gorgeous, twinkly singalong. The Roebucks have unleashed a rare beast: a song you can dance to, cry to and scream at the top of your lungs. One of those songs that youโll attempt to sing both vocals with passion but with zero finish – Teenage Dirtbag style. Jangly, joyous and jubilant, โMonaโ is hauntingly pretty yet carries with it a serious summer vibe.
You just may hear the name, The Roebucks, more often very, very soon. Recently featured on the bills of The Great Escape and Wanderlust festivals, you can catch The Roebucks on tour this month in Portsmouth โ and Iโd certainly be inclined to recommend doing just that.
