Indie Rock Heavyweight Father John Misty Has Announced His First New Album In Four Years Alongside New Shows
Father John Misty is starting the new year off with a bang by announcing the release of his new album โChloรซ and the Next 20th Centuryโ, his first release since his 2018 album, โGodโs Favourite Customerโ.
The first glimpse we get into the album is through his latest single and music video ‘Funny Girl’ directed by Nicholas Ashe Bateman. A swirling symphony, itโs retrospective of his previous work but with a fresh sound with the visuals showing us a whimsical yet gloomy dreamscape.
‘Chloรซ and the Next 20th Century‘ was written and recorded between August and December 2020 and features arrangements by Drew Erickson. The album sees Tillman and producer/multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Wilson resume their long-time collaboration having worked together since his first album, as well as Dave Cerminaraโs return as engineer and mixer.
In order to promote the new release, Father John Misty and his band have also announced two symphony performances scheduled for 2022. The first is February 25th in Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the LA Phil and the second, April 7th in London at the Barbican with Britten Sinfonia conducted by Jules Buckley. Tickets for the Barbican show will be on-sale Friday, January 7th, at 10am HERE.
‘Chloรซ and the Next 20th Century‘ will be released 8th April via Bella Union in the UK/Europe, worldwide from Sub Pop, and is available to pre-order here.
