FEET Stomp Through Newquay and Falmouth

We’ve long been banging the drum about FEET since our introduction to them last year at Boardmasters. Out of nowhere, through the bad weather they appeared and blew us away. Since that day we have been longing for them to make their way to Cornwall again. We are incredibly stoked that this week saw the band return and under the CLUNK & SW1 banner for two intimate shows in Newquay and Cornwall.

Their first stop was in Whiskers, Newquay which saw them play to a near full room with support from local legends Flowers Of Palo. Beer was spilt, one guy kept telling everyone how much better his band was and the crowd danced. It was a great start to the bands Cornish adventure.

The bands next stop took them to Hillbilly’s, Falmouth a tight, sweat venue that is becoming notorious for pure madness. With Cornish renegades The Rezner opening up it was guaranteed to be a wild one. The Rezner took advantage of the small space and got the crowd nice and sweaty with their ferociously anthemic indie rock.

After a quick turnover FEET took to the stage and instantly the crowd responded, dancing, jumping and a wave of applause awashed the band. Their unique wonky Brit pop sound keeps the listener on their toes, hanging on every note for the next surprise. This is especially evident in the track ‘Hotdog’, a Frank Zappa inspired jam that traverses the realm of weird. It’s not all bizzaro though as latest single ‘Outer Rim’ is an uplifting, pulsing number that throws audiences into a frenzy.

Both shows boasted the bands ability to create music that us very much their own, they carry their own sound with rightful aplomb. For those that made it down for these shows you were treated to something rare and it’s unlikely we’ll see them play shoes of that size again, big things are on the horizon for FEET.
