Bristol’s Getdown Services release new single ‘I’m Not Feeling It’ alongside news of a brand new EP ‘Your Medal’s In The Post’
The shirtless sardonic boys we all love are back. Bristol-based duo Getdown Services have today announced their new EP ‘Your Medal’s In The Post’, out on 14th November via Breakfast Records. The six track journey will see the pair experiment with something slightly more tempered than their usual apocalyptic disco.
As the first track to be featured in the project, ‘Iโm Not Feeling It‘ is a fantastic example of this new direction. The production holds in it those elements that you think of when you imagine both disco and Getdown Services: glittering synths, a four to the floor beat, and what I like to call disco boodaboos. A deep and heavy rolling bass balances the track, and attunes the ear.
All this is paired with sharp lyricism about moments of levity in an otherwise cruel modern world. There are small vignettes, like seeing a soft side to your parents or being proud of your sister’s achievements, but over the backdrop of hopelessness. Lyricist Josh Law says โitโs about the experience of good things washing over you without imparting any of their goodnessโ and โbeing grateful but only in the abstract sense.โ
Itโs certainly a great way to introduce something new to their sound. On top of the new EP, the duo will be embarking on tour yet again this autumn and winter โ get tickets while you can, they’re selling out fast.
New EP ‘Your Medal’s In The Post’ is out on 14th November via Breakfast Records.
