‘Good Dog, Bad Dream’ is the new EP from US indie outfit Hippo Campus and marks their first work since their 2018 album ‘Bambi’. While ‘Bambi’ leant more on the electronic side with programmed drums and keys, ‘Good Dog, Bad Dream’ is straightforward tightly wound indie.

‘Bad Dream Baby’ comes out swinging with guitars and drums as razor sharp as the lyrics. With the verse musing, “I’m worried about Britney Spears, it’s pretty fucked up how her dad runs her life, I wish my dad was more involved in mine but not like that, really not like that” it’s clear that Hippo Campus are keeping things as light as their music is. From the first beat, ‘Good Dog, Bad Dream’ embraces the New York indie sound that bands such as Vampire Weekend found fame with.

With this switch to a tightly played indie pop, Hippo Campus have written an EP that is infectious, witty and so cool you want to go to a wine bar with it.
