South London indie band Honeyglaze announce second album ‘Real Deal’ and drop new single ‘Don’t’

Following up their Dan Carey-produced self-titled debut album, Honeyglaze have today announced their second album ‘Real Deal,’ out on 20th September via Fat Possum Records.

After outgrowing the sound of their 2022 debut, Honeyglaze seem to be shaking up their sound, with the new album described as a rawer, more honest version of the band than what we have heard before.

Bassist Curtis explains: โ€œWe wanted to express dark feelings not just lyrically, but as a band, through dynamics, distortion, shock and emotion. You want to get all of this out in your music, but you canโ€™t when the songs are too โ€˜niceโ€™.โ€

The first taste of this change in direction is the new single, ‘Don’t‘. From the first time we hear Shibuichi’s drums, you can already tell that the sound is more angular, jagged and sinister. When the guitars are introduced, they slot perfectly into the percussion, with a dark off-kilter riff.

At less than 3-minutes long, it is amazing how much they have crammed into the track, leaving enough time for a huge distorted outro, crashing through broken glass after a moment of silence.

Vocalist Sokolow has never sounded more confident, listing off demand after demand of how she no longer wishes to be treated. There is fire in her delivery, proving she is just as comfortable in this role as she is as a soothing indie pop singer.
