Canadian indie outfit Hotel Mira soar high with their stadium ready anthem ‘Waste Away’

The Canadian outfit Hotel Mira first came together during a battle of the bands during their teenage years. Fast forward a few years and they’re now touring the world playing shows to an ever growing audience. 2024 in particular was a busy one with Hotel Mira playing showcases at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and The Great Escape, Brighton, UK.

However, today we’re here to chat about the bands latest single ‘Waste Away’, a blinding indie classic that entertains the listener for just over the 3 minute mark. It’s a quick and intense dose of indie that leaves one wanting more. The vocals soar through the cascading guitars creating a delightfully overwhelming sound that washes over you. This is a stadium ready single for a band that are clearly destined to be gracing them in the future. Now is the time to get into Hotel Mira, before they absolutely blow up.

Speaking on ‘Waste Away’, band member Charlie Kerr says: โ€œโ€˜Waste Awayโ€™ tells the story of Domestic abuse. The tendency to Blame oneself. The confusion and backwards way we justify abusive behavior. The way things can escalate slowly over time in a way that we donโ€™t recognise until itโ€™s too late. And of course, the trying to gather the courage to leave a partner and the very real threat of violence if you do. It is a love letter to the courage and resilience of survivors. Myself and close friends included.”
