Songwriter Joan Kelsey, based in Seattle, has released their new single ‘Horses’ similar in vain to works by the Fleet Foxes and Ben Howard.
Opening the song is a gently picked acoustic guitar which is soon joined by Kelsey’s soft, raspy vocal, this then builds with some subtle harmonies. The chorus is brought in with drums and an electric guitar line which brings a lovely full quality to the song. It softens out again through the verses but lifts in the chorus’ whilst telling us about a friendship that seems to have incompatible points of view.
A beautiful song, addressing something that lots of people experience, how we all see things differently.
