BST Hyde Park yet again left us in awe and provided the perfect backdrop to one of the world’s greatest rock bands, Kings Of Leon
On June 30th, headlining the opening weekend of BST Hyde Park was none other than Kings Of Leon. Supported by many incredible artists including The Vaccines, Paolo Nutini, Somebodyโs Child and many more. As always the BST Hyde Park stage and set up was an awe inspiring experience that truly solidifies it as THE event of the summer in the city.
There was a lot on offer during this full on day of guitar music but support highlights comes from The Vaccines, who as always bring an infectious, heart wrenching show that is now eponymous with the band. They played a wide array of their catalogue such as ‘Post Breakup Sex’, ‘If You Wanna’, and more. It was yet another experience with the Vaccines that solidifies them as one of the most hardworking, stylish, and brilliant indie bands of the 21st Century.
Arriving 10 minutes early to their set, Caleb, Nathan, Jared and Matthew opened with โBallerina Radioโ as well as playing crowd favourites such as โSex on Fireโ, โCloserโ and โUse Somebodyโ, each song bringing the audience fervent levels of excitement. It’s safe to say that there was not a single person not dancing. Throughout their set we were also treated to an array of impressive visuals that tied perfectly into each song, creating a near cinematic experience when watching these titans of rock.
It was my first time experiencing what are now veterans of the early 2000’s rock scene and I can confidently say that they still uphold the same energy, confidence, and virality as they did during their ‘Aha Shake Heartbreak’ era.
