On Saturday the 11th of November, the very talented Joe Dolman graced family, friends and fans with his beautifully fragile and melancholy sounds, at the LOFT Theatre in his hometown of Royal Leamington Spa.
“It was an amazing show, a sold-out crowd who are really up for a good time and were incredibly supportive – singing every word!” – Joe speaking about his show.
Joe Dolman, who is 22 years old, encapsulates the sounds of both James Bay and James Morrison whilst managing to retain his unique sound and stands alone in the singer-songwriter genre. Joe is an extremely charming and forthcoming performer, especially considering he took to the stage on his own, apart from when performing a duet with his friend and fellow musician Paris Tredell. Joe has no qualms about flirting with his audience, throughout his performance he frequently riled up his crowd requesting that they sing along with him. On some occasions, his requests were not needed due to fans knowing where to join in. The performance was truly an incredible, uplifting and intimate experience.

Joe is currently on tour in the U.K. showcasing his new EP and it’s not often that he gets to perform where he hails from. Joe noted this during his performance, as he made sure to discuss playing in front of his parents who have inspired several of his pieces. In particular, Joe discussed how his mother has inspired him throughout his musical career. Reminiscing about being a younger man, accompanying his mother to her work as a nurse in a care home. Whilst helping his mum at work Joe encountered an elderly man with dementia, who couldn’t understand why he was in the home and thought that the care he was receiving would be better provided to someone else. The song is called ‘Close to Home’ and is not yet released.
“I always love adding a hometown show into the tours, they’re often a highlight of the tour and I feel very loved by a home crowd! I’m very proud to come from Leamington and I am so grateful for everyone who’s been supporting from the beginning of playing in all the pubs around the town, it’s amazing to be selling out theatre venues in the town now, I feel very lucky to be shown so much love! The Loft Theatre has always been a dream venue of mine to play in, it’s an incredible venue and looked stunning on the night!”

Joe currently has an amazing production team behind him, who have helped him with his live shows nationwide. Tom Schofield is Joe’s production manager, who is responsible for the beautiful light show that takes place behind Joe’s performances. The lights that occupy the stage space behind Joe are custom built, made from the most random household objects, nonetheless, they create the most beautiful atmosphere for Joe’s live shows.

“The team around me at the moment are amazing, we all work so hard and they are all so brilliant at what they do, helping me make my ideas come to life with the show; the lights, the sound – and all of the organisation of it all. I’m in good company!”
Joe is continuing his tour throughout the U.K. and you can take a look at his remaining tour dates here.
