We have always looked at Leopalooza with great interest but have never been fortunate enough to enjoy the festival in person. However, this year that is all going to change as we have been invited along to cover the festival, to say we’re excited is an understatement.
The festival is located in one of the most beautiful locations in Cornwall and has a lineup that would make any music fan weak at the knees. It wasn’t easy but we have narrowed down 5 bands that you need to see at this years Leopalooza.
IDLES
Anyone that follows CLUNK or has kept up to date with us recently will know that we are constantly raving about IDLES. It is our firm belief that they are one of the most important bands operating in the UK. Not just because of their angst driven punk but also because of what they stand for and represent. This is punk music for those wanting compassion, those who can resonate with a band that embodies the anger and frustration held by a generation of young people. It’s also worth mentioning that they are a force to be reckoned with live, expect a barrage of guitars similar to the likes of Thee Oh Sees and growls and screams from vocalist Joe Talbot.
Demob Happy
To be completely honest Demob Happy have only recently come into our radar, a fact we’re not proud of. Having heard the track ‘Loosen It’ we were eager to hear more from the band, especially live. Their sound has influences from all the greats such as Sabbath, Spooky Tooth and even a dose of Queens Of The Stone Age. I’m hoping to walk away from their live set a mega fan and judging by how much I like their recordings that is a strong possibility.
Swedish Death Candy
Swedish Death Candy are one of the most underrated bands in the UK. They are a true whirlwind of a band that has a cataclysmic sound. They blend large, heavy riffs with pulsing psychedlia similar to bands such as Ty Segall and Fuzz. I am yet to experience them live but from what I have heard they are going to leave a real impression on myself and the festival.
Husky Loops
Husky Loops have built a strong reputation as a live band in the past few years, with notable performances opening up for Spoon, Placebo and The Kills. They’re a ferocious band that break and bend the rules to suit them. This ferocity and high octane energy at Leopalooza should be a sight to behold.
LIFE
The Hull based band LIFE are a politicly driven, angst riddled punk band that are sure to leave festival goers dripping in sweat. Their energetic concoction of punk and rock is daringly infectious. We cannot explain how excited we are to see this band tear Leo a new one!
