Yellowitz returns with a new single ‘Addicted’, taken from their upcoming album, which discusses themes of pleasure, addiction, queerness, gender and identity
The track opens with a pop feel but around the chorus it shifts to a more slow-paced R&B, giving the listeners a more in-depth meaning to the lyrics. The atmosphere is created by the acoustic layers blending into the warm electronica feeling.ย
Talking about the single, Yellowitz explains, โit’s about the fine line between something you enjoy and something that you might be doing you more harm than good.โย
The lyrics are romantic and thoughtful with โbuilding statues in the rainโ being the artist’s favourite line from this single.ย
Being burnt out from solo tours a few years back, Yellowitz realised collaboration was what was lacking. ‘Addicted’ and other songs in the upcoming album have been co-produced by DYVR and Matt Harris with the collaboration coming about through deep chats and meaningful conversations.ย
Yellowitz has featured on several BBC Introducing Sessions, with BBC Radio describing his performances as โcompelling, emotive and energetic.โ
‘Addicted’ is out now via Veta Records. Listen here:
