I’m Evan, a 19 year old concert photographer based and raised in Glasgow. Being from Glasgow, I’ve always been around music from a young age, either going to concerts with my parents as young as 5 or playing a variety of instruments throughout my childhood. Photography has also been a passion for many years and to combine both together and music has been nothing but great.
Edinburgh Psych Fest returned last weekend for its 2026 edition – here are a few of our highlights
I was delighted to attend this year’s Edinburgh Psych Fest, the biggest one to date, with the additions of 2 new venues to the circuit: Usher Hall and La Belle Angele. The lineup was bursting with exciting acts from all over the world.
The first highlight of the day was GHOSTWOMAN, the duo of Evan Uschenko from Canada and Ille van Dessel from Belgium. This is an act I’ve been excited to see for a good while previously, missing their show in Glasgow last October and it was clear that the rest of the crowd felt the same; Queen’s Hall was packed for this early set including the seating section above. It was great to see the band draw in a crowd who all stayed full for their full hour set, with my personal favourite ‘Do You’ being the clear high point.
I then left Queen’s Hall, starting the 30 minute walk towards Usher Hall for my most anticipated set of the day: Angine De Poitrine. I was beyond excited for this one, as since their live set at KEXP and the release of ‘Vol II’, I knew I had to see them as soon as I could. The anonymous duo from Saguenay, Quebec played to a packed out Usher Hall, despite this being their first ever set in Scotland. Their set was as mind boggling as anyone can imagine, leaving me questioning exactly what I was witnessing. I don’t think the Edinburgh crowd knew either. Angine De Poitrine closed their 8-song incredible set with ‘Sherpa‘.
One last highlight was Ty Segall back at Usher Hall. I hadn’t heard much about Segall until the announcement of him playing Edinburgh Psych Fest, however after seeing his set, I was very pleasantly surprised. Hearing ‘Hospital‘ and ‘Black Paint’ live was something I won’t forget and I highly recommend catching him next festival season.
