Hi my name is Chea and I dove into the world of band photography midway through 2023. I was really involved in the amazing music scene at uni in Falmouth, making friends with lots of super talented people. After uni I really wanted to explore the vibrant music scene within Belfast and used this creative drive to begin my exploration into the local scene and further my photography.
Im hoping to continue my photography journey further and capture many more great moments with many wonderful people!

Conan Gray’s Intimate Wishbone Tour Sets Sail at Antwerp’s AFAS Dome Arena

Conan Gray’s Wishbone Tour landed at the AFAS Dome in Antwerp on May 15th, delivering both intimacy and spectacle at the same time. The stage design resembled theatre set-pieces, with hand painted scenery flats that seamlessly weaved in and out of stage view. This theatre-like set up was amplified as the show was split into four distinct acts, each with a set and costume change. These defined acts also allowed Conan’s lyricism and storytelling to capture the crowd and shine throughout the whole show.

Conan kicked off the show with ‘My World’ a song that exudes self assurement and feeling free from others thoughts. A great opening to send the excited crowd onto this nautical inspired dreamy voyage.

Vocally, Conan sounded incredible all night, soaring across each high note in songs like album standout ‘Vodka Cranberry’ with ease. Throughout the show the crowd screamed every lyric of each sweeping chorus and stayed attentively enamoured in quieter moments. Between songs, Conan laughed with the audience and never seemed distant despite the size of the venue.

One of these more light-hearted moments came to light when Conan sat at the front of stage beside a small campfire set, to sing the acoustic surprise song ‘Comfort Crowd’ and his guitar wasn’t working so he let out a humorous cry of “somebody help” whilst looking over to the audience.

This small human moment reminded me of when I saw him perform in 2022 in a much smaller venue before he began arena tours. Conan’s stage presence felt true to self; it felt honest. That honesty made later songs like ‘Heather’ and ‘Family Line’ hit even harder live, especially when thousands of people sang every word back to him.

The perfect shifting of energy between emotional ballads and upbeat pop moments created a space where people could feel everything fully and unapologetically. For my friends and I the encore with ‘Memories’ was a highlight, as we screamed the lyrics with full cathartic passion at each other. The whole show felt comforting, emotional and chaotic all at once, which is exactly what makes Conan Gray’s concerts shine.
