Pip Blom make an exciting return to the south west in the newly refurbished Bristol Beacon, playing a sold out show in Lantern Hall

Previously a four piece, Pib Blom’s new line up consists of the family trio; with drummer Gini Cameron no longer in the live set up, the show consisted of a different vibe, relying more heavily on synths and samplers and straying from their previous rock-oriented approach.

Bristol-based band Getdown Services supported and, like Pip Blom, they had a different line up. With one half of the duo absent, Josh Law performed the electronic disco tracks solo. Despite this, Law brought an infectious cheeky excitement to the stage while creating a rippling groove in the crowd.

Alongside the live set up, Pip Blom have also gone in a new direction with their new electro pop album ‘Bobbie.’ They didn’t shy away from playing their older material whilst incorporating their new style, breathing a new life into the old favorites such as ‘Babies Are A Lie’ and Get Back’.

They opened with their single ‘Is This Love?‘ Originally a duet with Pip Blom and Alex Kapranos, the live set was seamlessly amended with Tender Blom filling in on vocals.

This new refreshing era of Pip Blom is an exciting new venture for the three piece band, and their live show is definitely not one to miss.
