My name is Uchechi, and I am a 21 year old law student from the north of Scotland. Outside of my studies, I am a avid concert goer and music enthusiast. Photography has also been my passion for as long as I can remember, so getting to combine my two passions through concert photography has been great. When I’m not with my camera or typing with my keyboard, I am enjoying nature with my friends.

The St. James Quarter Sessions had it all—from the diverse lineup of musical acts to the little extras we received each day, the atmosphere was amazing

There’s something truly special about hearing live music on a rooftop overlooking the heart of Scotland. Attending these sessions made me appreciate living here even more. I discovered a wealth of local talent, with artists from small towns who are on the brink of breaking into the industry. There’s an entire scene of creative energy here, full of untapped potential.

Katie Gregson-MacLeod was a standout for me. Her ability to pour her heart into breakup songs at the keyboard, while effortlessly making everyone laugh between songs, was endearing. I also loved catching up with Leif, who spoke with such pride about how music has created a multigenerational bond between him and his great uncle.

Talking to these artists, who grew up in places similar to mine, and seeing how being Scottish has shaped their music and identity was truly inspiring. Watching fans approach the artists after the shows, both long-time followers and those discovering them for the first time, was just as special.

The St. James Quarter Sessions are a fantastic addition to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and something everyone in the city should check out. It’s a free hidden gem that makes music accessible while giving artists a chance to connect with new audiences.

What really stood out about the St. James Quarter Sessions was how everything came together—the music, the setting, the atmosphere. It wasn’t just about watching a gig; it was about experiencing something unique in the heart of Edinburgh. I’ll definitely be attending next year.
