Dumb Buoys Fishing Club return with ‘Fortune Teller‘ – another seriously fun and catchy tune
Dumb Buoys Fishing Club are a duo who have been causing something of a ruckus on their rapid rise to becoming one of the UKโs most fun acts of recent years. Latest single, โFortune Tellerโ continues this momentum, and then some. Their third release shows the band really coming into their own, as they amalgamate intricate bars with interesting synth led beats and moments of radiantly catchy melody.
Despite their sound taking influence from early 2000s artists such as Gorillaz, Outkast and N.E.R.D, โFortune Tellerโ sounds like something which is unique to 2023. Fun exudes from every corner of this single and is entirely infectious during its purposefully brief two and a half minute runtime.
Behind the mask of fun, however, Dumb Buoys Fishing Club have serious undertones – their lyrics tackle issues such as sustainability and environmentalism. Their ability to deliver serious messages in such a fun manner is what has made the duoโs rapid rise to success so unique in the scene.
Their vision for the band is clear and they are already making massive headways in fulfilling this unique goal, with a sold-out waterside show at Battersea Barge on August 17th and festival dates at Boardmasters and Pitchfork Paris later in the summer.
