Melbourne’s Hachiku drops new single ‘Keep On Swimming’, an adorable and addictive track and the third from their new album
Hachiku is the indie project of Anika Ostendorf, who is spreading her joyous and bubbly sound across Melbourne. Working with indie legends Courtney Barnett and Jen Cloher, Ostendorf has been in good hands, working with their label Milk! Records. Hachiku’s new album ‘The Joys of Being Pure at Heart‘ is out on 28th February via Marathon Artists.
‘Keep On Swimming’ is a simple, catchy and very loveable track. Blending bright synths, backing choral vocals and gentle harp, it is a pleasure to let the warm sound wash over you. As more percussion joins the mix, the track slowly wakes up, becoming more and more lively as it stretches itself out. The production is lush, letting each element breathe, before the final section distorts things completely.
Heavily muffled and distorted drums are accompanied by glitchy robotic vocals in a refreshing twist, before the gorgeous poppiness leaves you with a good taste. Ostendorf’s vocals are sweet and laid-back, never distracting from the instrumentals and rather joining them as one of many instruments in this adorable orchestra.
