Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke reveals new album and shares single ‘True Love Knows No Death’

Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke is a man who seems to take no time off. When Bloc Party is on hold, the multi-talented Kele doesn’t stop, continuing to channel his ideas and creativity into his solo work. Previous record ‘The Waves pt.1’ displayed a more sombre approach tonally, focussing in on more ambient textures and timbres.

Now, ahead of hotly anticipated sixth studio record ‘The Flames pt.2’, due on March 24th, Kele has shared the album’s second single ‘True Love Knows No Death’ – a complete U-turn from ‘The Waves pt.1’.

A whirlwind of jagged guitars and rumbling bass, ‘True Love Knows No Death’ delivers an almost hip-hop aesthetic with its driving beat and relentless rapid-fire vocal performance from Kele. His passion and signature looping style continue to reign supreme on this project, with the brittle and choppy drums looped throughout the track.  The atonal guitar and keys inflections drape a darker lens over the track, a slick juxtaposition to his upbeat and joyous vocal and lyrical delivery.

‘True Love Knows No Death’ is a track that demolishes genre boundaries, merging a vast array of sounds, culminating in a unique and innovative package. As a basis for his upcoming project, it’ll be turning plenty of heads, especially with more tracks of this calibre.
