Bursting onto the indie scene with another track from their upcoming EP are Bristol boys Saloon Dion

Bristol’s music scene is bursting with new sounds and one of the most exciting ones is from rising stars Saloon Dion (the pun is intended). Full of grit and swagger, their latest post-brit pop track ‘Carnival’ is just a taste of what’s to come with their new EP ‘You’ll Find Me’, set to come out on 14th August.

Heavily inspired by Oasis, the track came into fruition when guitarist Tom Simpkins had been blasting ‘Definitely Maybe’ on the way to practice in the summer and within 10 minutes, the guitar riffs came to life. ‘Carnival’ is a funfair of sounds, with its classic indie guitar riffs paired with Dave Sturgess’s angsty vocals and chaotic segments throughout the song.

When talking about the upcoming EP, Sturgess said: “Lyrically, Where You’ll Find Me’ draws on themes of unrequited love, fear of commitment, growing old, growing up too fast, loneliness, arrogance, ignorance… but ultimately culminates with an overriding them of moving on, and being better for it.”

‘Carnival’ explores the idea of lusting for someone, as suggested in the line ‘No kiss could ever taste so sweet, what do I expect from you? What do you expect from me’. It sums up clearly the confusion and rollercoaster of emotions and confusion that comes with forming relationships. 

It’s clear that the more we hear of what’s to come from ‘You’ll Find Me’, the more Saloon Dion are cementing themselves as ones to watch in the indie scene.
