Ahead of their much anticipated debut EP, ‘Twice Around The Sun’, Ugly have shared a new track ‘Shepherd’s Carol’

The art-rock powerhouse Ugly blends euphoric choral elements with a more experimental sound and this single, Shepherdโ€™s Carol, has it all.ย

The track is rich and full, with infectious melodies and intricate harmonies. The opening riff twangs and fiddles its way into a sound that continues to swell. There are dynamic changes throughout that keep you gripped. Having seen Ugly live, I can tell you that they always come with something unexpected. Wherever you think a track is heading, it swerves away every time.ย

Pastoral lyrics, playful and at times sinister, give the track a slightly humorous tone. But, essentially, Shepherdโ€™s Carol feels free. The perfect setting to listen: running through a field in the summertime. The perfect time to listen: always.ย

Look out for the EP, due April 3rd, and for upcoming shows from Ugly. The band are readying themselves to head out on support for Lime Garden ahead of a hometown release day show in Cambridge.
