Saam Sultan’s latest EP ‘Seraphim’ mixes soul, R&B & pop in a way akin to Frank Ocean. Here’s why we think Sultan will take the industry by storm.
I was first blessed with Sultan showing up on my feed with singles such as ‘ydoifeel?‘ and ‘locked in love‘, released in 2024 and 2025 respectively. At that point, Sultan had already garnered attention from Matty Healy and since then I have been following each release like a hawk. He is one of those artists that for all they lack in social media presence (and media presence in general), they make up for with in their amazing art. The music exists purely to be listened to, the ego is secondary making each new release refreshing, new and exciting.ย
Sultan is 20-years old, but the music seems to touch on feelings from someone much older, aย ‘Seraphim‘-like figure. Consider me jealous, but I would give my left leg to able to produce songs like this at such an early age. The songs are disjointed and lack structure but in the best way. The listener is encouraged to explore withย Saam, like we are alongside him in the studio trying new sounds, textures and vocal hooks and finding the ones stick and fit to the feelings.ย
So indicative of artists such asย Frankย Ocean,ย Saamย Sultan, is at the start of something special. Sultan places the heart and its wanderings at the forefront of his music. ย At times ethereal, the tracks blend into trap beats with groovy hooks and glissando subs, creating songs that can be danced or wallowed to. There is power in this music and this EP reinstates the power of EP as a format. His fans have been teased and taunted with these incredible songs and are now hooked, anxiously anticipating for when the album drops. ย
‘Seraphim‘ย comes ahead of an album set to release later this year and some festival slots this summer. I am sure fans and new listeners can expect to hear some teasers of these authentically raw tracks. I for one canโt wait to catch him at All Points East this summer ย – a genuine talent, with his whole career ahead of him!
