“We laugh about the ups and downs like they don’t hurt”: Pillow Queens releases emotive newest single

2020’s most exciting indie-rockers Pillow Queens, hailing from Dublin have been building serious momentum since releasing their debut EP ‘Calm Girls’ in 2017.

After selling out shows in their native Ireland and supporting artists like IDLES, Pussy Riot and Future Island, Pillow Queens independently released their major breakthrough 2020 debut LP ‘In Waiting’.

Pillow Queens have announced their second LP ‘Leave The Light On’ which encourages duality; to be soft and hard, delicate, and muscular, intimate and anthemic, alone and together. Set to be an album full of “world-beater” songs, ‘Leave The Light On’ is set to be released on April 1st via Royal Mountain Records.

Coinciding with the album announcement, Pillow Queens have announced their first North American Tour with stops at Texas’ SXSW. Followed by the band’s biggest ever UK tour in May, kicking off at Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club and coming to a close with a party on a boat at Bristol’s Thekla.

Not only have Pillow Queens treated us with the exciting news of a new album and their largest tour to date, they have shared their first single from ‘Leave The Light On’. With hints of Stereophonics and Pixies, newest track ‘Be By Your Side’ encapsulates the outstanding vocals and harmonies of Pamela Connolly and Sarah Corcoran, creating a powerful feeling of nostalgia and anticipation.

Singer and Bassist Pamela Connelly explains: “This song is about the mechanisms that are used to hide your vulnerabilities and carry on, but also, the feeling of being about to burst and how cathartic it could be to allow yourself to let your emotions out and feel the world around you.”
